FrostHack is a virtual hackathon centered around gaming and entertainment. This event will be taking place over Discord from July 23-25 and is open to participants of all ages and experiences internationally. Take this weekend as an opportunity to create your own game!

Requirements

Submission should include a demonstration of the prototype, through a video. (4 min max). You must also provide all source code.

Projects must not start before 2 PM on Friday July 23

We do allow you to submit your project to other hackathons (this weekend only) as long as the other hackathon also allows this.

The first overall prize is given to the best game at the hackathon. Each member will be receiving $100 and lifetime upgrades to Taskade Unlimited.

2nd Place Overall

The second overall prize is given to the second best game at the hackathon. $50 Per Person

The third overall prize is given to the third best game at the hackathon. $25 Per Person

Most Novel Hack

As a project selected by 1517 Fund, your team will receive $1000 USD, $10,000 in AWS credits and continued mentorship from the 1517 team and opportunities through their grantee community.

Best Beginner Hack

Your group will qualify for this category if at least 50% of your team consists of first time hackers.

Best Solo Hack

Your project will qualify for this prize if you submit a hack done by yourself. As a winning project you will be receiving an imagiCharm sponsored by imagiLabs.

Best Use of Qoom

Teams must use the Qoom platform to be eligible for this prize. The prizes are

Judging Criteria

  • Presentation
    Is your demonstration/trailer near-professional and well explained? If a participant decides to create a trailer without explanation, their Devpost description will be considered.
  • Visual Design
    How appealing does your game look? User interface, user experience, and graphics, will be evaluated.
  • Game Mechanics
    Is the game impressive in terms of concept and complexity? Is it very simple? Or does it have layers?
  • Entertainment Value
    Is your game fun? Would people want to play it again? Could it be the next game to go viral?
  • Creativity
    Does your game feel unique and original?
